COTUL invites participants to attend a five-day event that will include the sixth scientific conference, a training workshop and an Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mwanza City from 11th – 15th November 2024 at the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA) Conference Hall, Mwanza

" Libraries and Information Services in the 4th Industrial Revolution: Current Trends, Opportunities and Challenges "
This year’s conference papers will be aligned along the following sub-themes: Library and information science curricula; application of 4IR technologies in libraries; library automation; information services for innovation; Libraries for socio-economic development; open scholarly communication; research data management; bibliometrics, informetric and webometrics; virtual library operations; digital libraries; digital competences; and, library 4.0.

WORKSHOP THEME
"Research Support Services' Knowledge and Skills for Library and Information Professionals"
Research Support Services offer a variety of skills that are critical for supporting researchers and learners effectively. The learning outcome of the training includes to: Empower researchers, students, and faculty on how to locate, evaluate and use information effectively; conduct workshops on scientific writing; assist researchers in creating Data Management Plans (DMPs); train users to understand the basics of the landscape of publishing e.g. licensing, open access, copyright, etc.; help researchers track and assess the impact of their works through metrics; apply various means for enhancing knowledge dissemination; demonstrate research ethics including intellectual property rights, plagiarism, data privacy, human subject research, and avoiding conflict of interest; and, understand public speaking in an academic environment.
