The Consortium of Tanzania University and Research Libraries (COTUL) proudly hosts its 7th Scientific Conference on Redefining Library Services in the Digital Age: Innovation, Collaboration, and Sustainability in Information Services at Royal Tughimbe Hotel, Mbeya from 15th to 19th December, 2025.
During the opening ceremony, in his welcome remarks, Prof. Kelefa Mwantimwa, the Consortium of Tanzania University and Research Libraries (COTUL) Deputy Chairperson, highlighted COTUL achievements over past years in building capacity for its members and non-members. He further expressed his gratitude to the consortium participants and emphasized the strong partnership.
In this prestigious gathering, which has been graced by the Guest of Honor, Dr. Mwajuma Lingwanda, the Executive Secretary at the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) while giving her opening remarks, she delivered a powerful speech that marked a significant milestone for redefining library services in the digital age in Tanzania. She praised the dedication and efforts of the COTUL along with their international collaborators towards improving library services in the country by enhancing innovation, collaboration, and sustainability in information services.
She commended the scientific conference and training workshop for addressing some of the important sub-themes that are designed not just to impart knowledge but also to cultivate practical and critical skills and an understanding of the economic and social contexts in which information professionals operate.
Dr. Lingwanda urged all higher education learning institutions, research libraries, and technical and vocational education and training in Tanzania to support the scaling-up of these achievements and emphasized the importance of sustainability. She persistently COTUL to work not only with higher learning institutions but also with technical and vocational education institutions where the majority are in need of the consortium services. She pledged the government's continued support to higher education learning institutions and technical and vocational education and training to sustain the progress made through the COTUL
