Workshop and Annual General Meeting (AGM)-2019
COTUL would like to invite you to the workshop on online reference management and scholarly content discovery strategies in scientific writing from 24th to 26th September 2019 in Arusha.
INTRODUCTION:
One of the objectives of COTUL is to build capacity for staff and users from its member institutions. In realizing this goal, COTUL conducts training to develop knowledge and skills ranging from non-technical to technical training. COTUL is pleased to invite you to attend a training workshop on online reference management and scholarly content discovery strategies.
The workshop and AGM will bring together academicians, researchers, librarians, and information professionals. Participants will learn the effective use of online reference management tools for citation and reference generation as well as efficient ways of discovering scholarly content from various authentic online sources. The knowledge gained is expected to improve the quality of scientific writing of participants and library users in their respective institutions.
Workshop objectives:
The training will focus on the following:
- To provide hands-on practices on aspects of reference management and in-text citation using Mendeley software.
- To expose participants to scholarly content discovery from COTUL subscribed databases and Research for life programs.
- To provide hands-on practices on strategies for searching scholarly literature.
Target group:
Academic staff, postgraduate students, professionals involved in library service provision, information professionals, ICT professionals, records and archives personnel, and information and documentation officers.
Dates: The training workshop is scheduled from 24th to 26th September 2019.
Venue: Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), Arusha, Tanzania.
Fees and mode of payment:
Participants are required to pay a workshop registration fee of TZS 300,000/= for COTUL
members and TZS 350,000/= for non-COTUL members. The fees will cover costs for meals,
venue, and conference/workshop materials. Please pay your registration fee through the COTUL
bank account with the following details:

It is highly recommended to pay the registration fee before the commencement of the event and keep the Bank pay-in slip as evidence. You may also make payment at the training venue upon arrival at the workshop venue.
Furthermore, participants are requested to solicit funds to cover their expenses, including:

iii. Subsistence allowances and other personal expenses
