One of the objectives of the COTUL is capacity building for its member institutions. In realizing this goal, COTUL conducts training to develop knowledge and skills ranging from non-technical to technical training
The COTUL chairperson invites interested individuals to attend three days of workshops on Managing Integrated Library Systems where KOHA ILS will be used as a case study.
Course Objectives
The workshop will equip participants with advanced knowledge and technical skills in the application of principles of creating and managing online library catalogs and circulation. Participants will also be exposed to standards of data entry. Furthermore, participants will learn how to manage duplicates in the system. Participants will also be trained on how to manage loans, generate reports for overdue, etc.
Course Contents:
Specifically, the workshop will cover the following topics among others:
• Overview & features KOHA
• Applying the modern ILS modules such as Cataloguing, Circulation, Acquisition, etc.
• Applying Library standards
• Metadata Crosswalk
Who Should Attend?
Professionals involved in Library and information management, systems librarians, system administrators/ICT personnel, information scientists, LIS students, and any other professionals working with cutting-edge technologies.
Fees and Mode of Payment
Participants are required to pay a modest fee of TZS 350,000/= that will cover training materials, breakfast, lunch, and refreshments. The registration fee should be paid through COTUL bank account CRDB A/C No: 0IJ1089194500, and Account Name: COTUL. Note that Electronic Receipts will be issued to payees after presenting the Bank pay in slip.
Participants are requested to solicit funds to cover their personal expenses including
i. Accommodation
ii. Transport
iii. Subsistence allowances and other personal expenses
